CranePOS is software built in Kampala, by Ugandan engineers, to solve problems unique to Ugandan businesses. Every subscription you pay stays in Uganda - funding local talent, a local company, and a stronger local tech industry.
Designed and engineered by a Ugandan team in Kampala who understands the Ugandan business environment.
Every feature in CranePOS was built to match the real workflows of Ugandan retailers, wholesalers, and pharmacies.
Your subscription funds local salaries, a local company, and the growth of Uganda's technology sector.
EFRIS compliance, offline operation - problems that only matter here, solved here.
Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) is a government-led policy approved in 2014 and launched in 2017 by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives. Its goal is to reduce Uganda's reliance on imports, create local jobs, and grow the domestic economy by encouraging Ugandans to prioritise locally produced goods and services.
BUBU covers three pillars: mandating government agencies to source from local suppliers, raising quality and standards for Ugandan products through UNBS, and building consumer awareness to encourage everyday Ugandans and businesses to choose local.
BUBU is not just about physical goods. It covers services too - including software. Every time a Ugandan business pays a foreign company for software, that money leaves Uganda permanently. Choosing a locally built alternative keeps that capital circulating in the Ugandan economy.
Government agencies are mandated to prioritise local suppliers - reserving certain contracts exclusively for Ugandan businesses.
Collaboration with UNBS to help local manufacturers and service providers meet regional and international quality benchmarks.
Encouraging citizens and businesses alike to choose Ugandan-made products and services - boosting domestic market share.
Thousands of Ugandan businesses currently pay foreign companies for their POS software. Every one of those subscriptions is money that leaves Uganda. CranePOS changes that.
CranePOS was designed, engineered, and is maintained entirely in Uganda by a Kampala-based team. Every line of code reflects an understanding of how Ugandan businesses actually operate.
When you subscribe to CranePOS, your payment funds Ugandan salaries, a Ugandan company, and Uganda's growing technology sector. None of it flows to a foreign economy.
Every CranePOS subscription contributes directly to employing Ugandan software engineers, product designers, and support staff - building the very talent base Uganda needs to industrialise.
Foreign POS software was never designed for Uganda. CranePOS was. EFRIS compliance, MTN and Airtel MoMo, power outage resilience - these are local problems we solved, not features bolted on later.
Our support team is based in Kampala, speaks your language, and understands your business context. When something goes wrong, you are not calling a foreign call centre.
As Ugandan businesses grow with CranePOS, we grow too - and reinvest in better features, more local hires, and deeper solutions for the Ugandan market. Our success is Uganda's success.
Foreign POS software was not built with Uganda in mind. CranePOS was - from the first day. Every major feature reflects a problem we saw Ugandan business owners facing. No foreign product can say that.
Uganda Revenue Authority's EFRIS compliance is a legal requirement for VAT-registered Ugandan businesses. We built it natively into CranePOS - no foreign POS software does this.
Load shedding and unstable internet are realities of Ugandan business. CranePOS desktop and mobile apps are offline-first - you keep selling regardless of connectivity.
From Ugandan Shillings as the base currency to support available on WhatsApp, every detail of CranePOS was designed for Uganda - not adapted for it.
The bigger picture
Uganda's software trade deficit - the gap between what we spend on foreign software and what we earn from software exports - is a real economic drain. The more Ugandan businesses choose locally built solutions, the more that balance shifts in Uganda's favour.
CranePOS is one company's contribution to closing that gap. When you choose us, you choose to be part of building Uganda's technology industry - one POS subscription at a time.
CranePOS supports public sector procurement as locally produced software, maintains quality standards comparable to international alternatives, and creates consumer awareness of the power of choosing local tech.
